Win, lose or draw? A good start to the season…

Week Two provided a much improved Men’s 1’s performance against Broxbourne compared to a difficult first game up at Cambridge against a young Royston Squad. There was a big return from Tim Mall who put in a Man of the Match performance. Solid keeping from Josh Rider and a goal from Harry Stone.
They are looking to get their first points of the season at home to Rickmansworth this Saturday.

Great start to the season for Ladies’ 1’s with a 5-0 win against newly promoted Eastcote 3’s. Unfortunately they followed that up in Match Two by giving away a cheap goal to lose 1-0 to Ashford. It was a very competitive game which has given them lots to work on. MotM was jointly awarded to Karen Goode and Sarah E-Q for amazing effort and a goal line save! Hoping to get back to winning ways, they take on Hampstead and Westminster 4s at home in the noon push back.

A new look Men’s 2s got off to a good start with a 1-1 draw against a useful Southgate Tankards team, there were fine performances from their debutantes, Thomas Mabey, Thomas Chernaik , Hitesh Mody and Leo Fernandes whose nifty turn and finish in the bottom corner had given them the lead! Moving on to Match Two and Dad of the year award goes to little Thomas’s dad, who stepped up and played in goal, when the team found themselves short a couple of players. What a legend! Even more amazing the 10-man team went on to win 3-2 against St Albans. More of the same home to Stevenage please lads!

After PHC Chiswick conceded their first match and unfortunate scheduling meant that was followed by their slip date, the Ladies’ 2’s are raring to finally put some sticks on an actual match ball this Saturday against Hampstead and Westminster 7s!
