Ladies 2s open their account with fine 2-0 victory

Week Four: 2-0 whoop, whoop!! The score line did show how much the Ladies’ 2s bossed the game! Everyone had a great game with a special mention for Man of the Match Kate Smith. Thanks to Charlotte Gonella for stepping up and putting in a dazzling goalkeeping performance and well done to Kelly Davids and helper Beth Deane for 2 fantastic goals! Next up will be Eastcote at home on the 28th October.

BOOM! Great performance from the Men’s 2s who won 3-1 away to Shefford & Sandy. With only 10 men, they managed to turn the match around from 1-0 down to 1-3 in their favour. Although they lacked the intensity of an early morning game, the performance definitely merited the win with S & S having only a handful of chances down WHE’s end. Incredible goals by Joe, Harry Stone and Dom. Thanks to Harry Stone and Rafi Zeff for doubling up and playing both 1s and 2s games. The 2’s are looking to continue their unbeaten run away against Southgate Adelaide at noon.

It was a disappointing #derbyday for the Ladies’ 1s, losing 3-0 to Southgate 3s. Despite a number of the team still suffering the effects of Friday night, the 1’s started well and had a few early chances. Southgate then pressed forward in numbers with WHE’s defence thwarting a number of attacks. Chris Putt made some crucial interceptions, with one of their forwards even taking a breather by sitting on Chris’s head! Beth Deane made another goal-line clearance and Sarah E-Q shackled COB well. The deadlock was finally broken shortly before half-time when a snap shot through a crowd of players found its way into the goal. Man of the Match Chris Putt. Hoping for a return to winning ways, the 1’s take on Chiswick away in the early match.

The Men’s 1s got off to a good start against Potters Bar. Tim Mall found space from a short corner after it had initially broken down. A strong strike was reached by the ‘keeper but was too hot to handle! WHE then struggled against very fast breaks from the oppo. and found themselves 3-1 down at half time but still in it. The second half delivered a great penalty flick save from Josh and superb finishing from Jake Sumner for the 1s second goal! It was a 9-2 loss in the end, however, Captain Stuart Carrick is confident it is all fixable, starting with working on their tackling back. They’ll get that chance next up at home against Blueharts.
