Ladies 1s snatch a draw from the jaws of victory; Men’s 2s lose their bottle (but win)

Week 11: A very unlucky Ladies 1s team came away with a 1-1 draw against Teddington, after conceding a goal with the last hit of the game…

We fought all the way -actually only for 69.9minutes , d’oh!
We did play well as a unit and had many, many chances up front.
Most of our scoring opportunities came from Bethany McNamara and Caroline Briers up front, alongside our almost unanimous Man of the Match Karen Gray. [It was inconclusive whether Karen G(oode) was voting for Karen G(ray) or herself ?!].
Karen Gray was unfortunate not to cap her performance off with a goal, as reward for her best game of the season so far. Having battled hard and applied Coach Gavin Kay’s tactics from training, she garnered lots of praise including; “a lot of hard work and great running”, “just an amazing all-round match”.
So, it was definitely Karen’s hard work, and not just the shiny new stick that Gav lent to her!

The goal came courtesy of #DeaneTeam.
A 16-yard hit out from Samantha straight towards Beth in the middle, who chased it down before calmly nutmegging the ‘keeper!!
Shame she couldn’t do it again on the next break, where she lost the ball, and her sense of positioning, and ran in the opposite direction… ??

#TeamDefence took it particularly hard, having a clean sheet stolen away in the last second. Consolation comes with the result meaning we still managed to move up to 10th in the table, so there’s a good chance we won’t be stuck in the relegation zone for Christmas  #silverlinings

Oh, and DotD goes to Lucy Mackay, having turned up late and sitting on the sideline the entire match, due to self-inflicted

Men’s 2’s remain unbeaten but lose their bottle!

In what was a largely forgettable match finishing at 6pm the boys from the Hill went to Hertford and won 2-0 thanks to Dom Smith scoring in each half.

For 15 mins at the start we played some lovely passing hockey and after Dom scored with our first attack we failed to capitalise further on a host of chances. Only 1-0 at HT.

2nd half was quite even but Dom made the most of some hard work from Leo to slot no.2 with 15 mins left.

Congrats to the defence on a clean sheet particularly Nick Smith on a fine save late on.

However the real story of the day is the scandal of Balazs missing yellow water bottle. If found please return to the owner as it clearly has great sentimental value judging by how long he searched for it!!

Onwards and upwards to next week.
