And the winners are…

And the winners are…

For the first time in 3 years, the club celebrated at the traditional end of season dinner and awards…and what a night it was! It was great to see so many of our members there, after the covid enforced hiatus, as well as our special guests and former players. Great food, great company, great stories, and some very worthy award winners:

Ladies’ Young Player of the Year

Abbi Baillie Sills

Hard work and dedication earnt Abbi her spot in the starting 11 for the Ladies 1s, stepping up from the Ladies 2s mid-season and making an instant impact both on the pitch and the scoresheet. Having started in our junior section, she has grown in confidence every year, and carried on on her free flowing attacking play as she has moved up through the club and continued her remarkable goalscoring record.

Men’s Young Player of the Year

Tom Pearson

Another junior who is moving up quickly through the ranks, Tom has become a pivotal player in the Men’s 2s, owning the centre midfield position where he drives the team forward but also works hard to win the ball back in defence. Superb performances throughout the season earned Tom a worthy call up for the Men’s 1s, where he took his chance with 2 fine man of the match displays.

Ladies’ Top Goalscorer

Abbi Baillie Sills

With 9 goals in 8 games for the Ladies 2s, Abbi was quickly called up to the Ladies 1s where she continued her goalscoring form with another 5 goals in 9 appearances, making her the top goalscorer with 14 goals this season, 2 clear of Kareen Allan who scored 12 goals in 18 games for the Ladies 2s.

Men’s Top Goalscorer

Colin Foad

The club’s top goalscorer for the previous 2 seasons, Colin continued where he left off, slotting 18 goals in 14 games for the Men’s 1s, including a remarkable 3 hattricks. Special mention to Theo Chapman, another one of our U18s, who scored 9 goals in 12 appearances for the Men’s 2s and would’ve pushed Colin further but for a finger injury mid-season.

Ladies’ Player of the Year

Rachelle Pearson

Another super season for Shell, who is a massive presence both on and off the pitch. She is a wall of strength at the back, giving 100% to every game. She wears her heart on her sleeve and leaves everything out of the pitch, a true team player and very worthy player of the year!

Men’s Player of the Year

Colin Foad

Colin’s goalscoring prowess is clear, but it’s his overall influence on the team that makes him the player of the year. Setting the press upfront to win the ball back, always available for a pass through midfield, and an ever present threat from penalty corners and in open play. An exceptional all-rounder who makes the whole team tick.

Team of the Year

Men’s 2s

A first season for all our teams in the newly formed London League, but it was the Men’s 2s that just snatched the prize with league stats of 25 points from 18 games for a 46% return, narrowly pipping the Ladies 2s who gained 27 points from 20 games for 45%. Look out, the Ladies will want their trophy back next year!

Special Recognition Award

The Umpiring Team

This year the club’s special recognition award went not to a person, but a team – the “Third Team”. This is the first full season without a non-playing umpire, and all our team stepped up and doubled up, playing and umpiring on the same day, and on many occasions travelling back from away games to umpire, or umpiring an early home game and then racing off to play away. Thank you all!
