Summer Hockey 2017

The ladies entered two teams in to the Southgate Summer Hockey League this year.

The A team had some mixed results early on with very close score lines until a brilliant 5-0 win over Hampstead and Westminster and continued on to qualify for the cup competition in the second half of the summer. They finished 5th in the cup with 2 wins and 3 losses which included a memorable 5-0 win against Harrow who had been unbeaten all summer.

After starting with a defeat, the B team’s highlight of the summer came early on when in the second match they beat Southgate Hot Shots 2-0. There was a series of losses until a magnificent 5-0 victory over Hendon and Mill Hill. The Bs played in the plate competition for the second half of the summer where they came 5th overall with 4 losses but rounded the summer off with a nice 2-0 win over Hendon and Mill Hill once again.

The final match of the summer was the rescheduled As v Bs which saw 20 players and the greatly missed Rob Deane take to the pitch. Presumably inspired by the Durham warm up going on next to the pitch, the game was a brilliant show of talent and enthusiasm and nodded strongly to a few more wins next season!
