Week 18: Vauxhall blown away by M1s

WH&E M1 2 : 0 Vauxhall M1

Despite concerns from Vauxhall about the weather, the match went ahead without any real problem with only a few strong gusts of Storm Dennis to cope with.

However, Vauxhall were blown away by our M1s despite a low score which doesn’t fully reflect the one-sided nature of the game. Great play by Winchmore staying patient and playing the ball around the opposition. Everyone contributed but the return of Craig Jackson stood out with his amazing tenacity. The only thing missing was a finish, but Dom stepped up at a short corner to put that right – 1-0 at half time.

Then the antics started with the visitors claiming for fouls, elbowing and sticking off the ball. Green cards given to us for next to nothing; an assault on Dom’s poor stick no action taken.

We dominated possession and Vauxhall posed no threat. Balazs in goal got some action collecting the ball for our sixteen hit outs but nothing more.

Some excellent play by all in the Winchmore team, with Vauxhall reduced to overexcited screams when they managed the odd tackle here and there. They then took offence to Stuart dribbling around six of their players, with more and more dangerous tackles flying in to try and stop him eventually resulting in a yellow card…against Stuart!

While Winchmore were down to ten Vauxhall made lame attempts to press but this backfired as some great passing and dribbling down the wing by Asher released Craig into the D who pulled the ball back from the goal line for Harry Stone to complete an easy open goal finish for 2-0 and a comfortable victory.

WH&E L2 1 : 3 West Hampstead L5

The L2s slipped to a 3-1 defeat in the midst of Storm Dennis. Abbi scored again, but having gained a 2 goal lead, West Hampstead were not to be overcome.
